Municipal theatre and song competition in memory of actor Mihai Volontir, dedicated to students of music and arts schools in Chisinau

Students of music and arts schools in Chisinau municipality are invited to participate in the Municipal Theater and Song Contest “Actor-Traveling Soul”, organized in memory of actor Mihai Volontir. The competition is aimed at young people aged between seven and 17 years old and will take place on February 28, 2025, at the “Valeriu Poleakov” School of Arts in Chisinau.
Participants will compete in three age categories:
- 7-10 years
- 11-13 years old
- 14-17 years old
The competition includes three sections:
- Dramatic art (declamators and theater group)
- Singing
- Light music
In the declamators section, students will interpret literary works according to age:
- 7-10 years old: poetry, fable or a fragment of prose (up to 5 minutes)
- 11-13 years old: poetry, fable or a fragment of prose (up to 5 minutes)
- 14-17 years old: poetry, excerpt from prose or monologue (up to 7 minutes)
For theater groups, participants will present an excerpt from a play or a dramatization (up to 15 minutes), with texts belonging to writers from the Romanian space.
In the Light Music section, each contestant will perform two musical works from the national repertoire, one of which is a cappella. The participants will provide the organizers with the orchestral negative on digital support.
The competition is open exclusively to students of music and arts schools in Chisinau. Each institution can register a maximum of three candidates in each age category and a maximum of three theater groups.
To register, students must fill in a participation form, attaching:
- Copy of birth certificate
- Personal data processing agreement
Documents must be sent to concursmunicipalmihaivolontir@gmail.com email address by February 20, 2025.
Stages of the competition
- 20 February: Application deadline
- February 28, 10:00 a.m.: The contest itself
- March 6, 15:00: Laureates’ Gala
All participants will receive participation diplomas, and the teachers of the laureate students will be mentioned with performance diplomas. The Grand Prize, the I, II, III prizes and mentions for each age category will be awarded. The cash prizes will be offered either in cash or by bank transfer to the legal representatives of the winners.
The contest is an opportunity for young people passionate about theater and music to demonstrate their talent and pay tribute to one of the most important figures of cinema and theater in the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Volontir.
