People in Need launches a call for proposals for media and democracy education projects

The non-profit organization People in Need (PIN) has announced the launch of a call for project proposals, offering financial and technical support to civil society organizations (CSOs) in the Republic of Moldova. The main goal of the initiative is to promote media education and democratic literacy in communities, with a focus on engaging youth and marginalized groups.

Objectives of the call

Selected projects will use the OWIS methodology to combat misinformation and encourage informed citizenship. Proposed activities will include documentary screenings, critical thinking workshops, electoral simulations and public debates. The focus will be on civic education in an electoral context, contributing to the active involvement of citizens in the 2025 elections.

Funding details

Each approved project can receive up to €10,000. The implementation period is between 6 and 12 months, starting in January 2025. Beneficiaries will sign a grant agreement and receive capacity building trainings in the OWIS methodology.

Eligible activities

CSOs can propose various activities such as:

  • Movie screenings and debates on human rights;
  • Media and democratic literacy workshops;
  • Mock elections and voter education campaigns;
  • Creating platforms for civic dialog and leadership development.

Projects that involve underrepresented groups, promote gender equality and have sustainability strategies will be prioritized.

Impact of the project

The call is part of the INSPIRED Moldova project, funded by the European Union, which aims to create an enabling environment for civil society. By supporting local CSOs, the initiative contributes to strengthening democracy, political dialogue and civic engagement in Moldova, thus accelerating the European integration process.
