USMF “Nicolae Testemitanu” women’s volleyball team – vice-champion at the Republican Universiade

The women’s volleyball team of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu” ranked second at the Republican Women’s Volleyball Universiade, a competition held from February 24-26 in Chisinau. The event brought together four higher education institutions from the Republic of Moldova, giving students the opportunity to demonstrate their sporting skills at the highest university level.
The USMF team was represented by players Maria-Magdalena Vicol, Ana Nicolaev, Victoria Cîrpac, Dana Ceaglei, Cătălina Corniță, Eva Iurcișina, Jana Cassa, Ionela Nicoară, Cristina Lopotenco, Adina Iapiev, Dumitrița Lefter, Andreea Lisbon, Mădălina Triboi, Sofia Gavriușenco and Inga Ceaglei. The team’s performance owes as much to the effort and determination of the players as to the training provided by coach Iulia Popova, an assistant professor at the Department of Physical Education.
The Republican Women’s Volleyball Universiade was organized by the Moldovan Federation of Student Sport and Veteran Sport and brought together the teams of the universities USMF “Nicolae Testemitanu”, Technical University of Moldova (UTM), Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM) and State University of Moldova (USM).
With this performance, the USMF team proves once again that excellence is not only limited to the medical field, but also to the sports field, promoting an active lifestyle among students.
