The event will take place at <strong>C\u0103rture\u0219ti Chi\u0219in\u0103u<\/strong> (121A, 31 August 1989 str., 121A) and will include an engaging discussion followed by a book signing session.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Virgil P\u00e2slariuc<\/strong>, <strong>Igor Ca\u0219u<\/strong> and <strong>Iulian Frunta\u0219u<\/strong> will take part in the dialog, which will deal with topics related to historical memory, totalitarian regimes and Romania&#8217;s geopolitical developments in the 20th century. The discussion will be held in Romanian.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the author<\/h3>\n<p>Dennis Deletant was born in Norfolk, England, in 1946. He is Visiting Professor at the Ion Ra\u021biu Chair of Romanian Studies at Georgetown University (Washington D.C.) and Professor Emeritus at University College London.<\/p>\n<p>His first contact with Romania was in 1965, at the Sinaia Summer School, and in 1969 he returned with a British Council scholarship. In 1988, the Ceausescu regime declared him <strong>persona non grata<\/strong>, but in December 1989 he returned to Bucharest as a <strong>BBC consultant<\/strong> during the Romanian Revolution.<br \/>In 1990, he was invited to the advisory committee of the <strong>British Government&#8217;s Know-How Fund<\/strong> and was actively involved in projects dedicated to Romania.
