On Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., in the “Mihai Eminescu” Hall of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova<\/em> (Chisinau, 31 August 1989, 78A, 31 August Street), a festive event dedicated to the promotion of reading will take place on the occasion of the National Reading Day and the Day of Commemoration of the poet Grigore Vieru<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The event also marks the official opening of the ninth edition of the National LecturaCentral 2026, a program that focuses on reading as an essential pillar for the personal, cultural and civic development of young people and the community.<\/p>\n

Event agenda: <\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Opening messages from cultural and political leaders 11:00 – 11:30<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The program will start with keynote addresses by prominent personalities, including:<\/p>\n

    \n

    – Elena Pintilei<\/em>, Director General of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova and President of ABRM;<\/p>\n

    – Angela Munteanu-Pojoga<\/em>, MP and author of the parliamentary initiative on the establishment of the National Reading Day;<\/p>\n

    – Cristian Jardan<\/em>, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    1. Debates on reading in the age of artificial intelligence 11:30 – 12:30<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The central moment of the day will be the debate session “Reading in the age of artificial intelligence: points of view”, with interventions by prominent personalities:<\/p>\n

      \n

      – Emilian Galaicu-P\u0103un<\/em> – poet, prose writer and literary critic, who will address the impact of books in our personal formation;<\/p>\n

      – Vitalie E\u0219anu<\/em> – digital creator, will discuss the role of artificial intelligence in promoting culture and literature;<\/p>\n

      – Orest Dabija<\/em> – member of the Audiovisual Council, will present perspectives on the reader and new media.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

      1. Successful experiences and initiatives in promoting reading 12:30 – 13:00<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Good practice examples from the National ReadingCentral Program will be presented, such as:<\/p>\n

        \n

        – The project “Booktrailere Competition”,<\/em> awarded with the First Prize in 2025, presented by Mariana Harjevschi, General Director of the Municipal Library “B.P. Hasdeu”;<\/p>\n

        – Community Library Initiatives, represented by Nadejda P\u0103dure, Director of the Public Library “Mihail Sadoveanu” in Str\u0103\u0219eni;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

        1. Official launch of the 9th edition of the National Program “LecturaCentral” 13:00 – 13:30<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          In the last part of the event, plans and campaigns of the 2026 edition will be presented:<\/p>\n

          – National Campaign “The Writer at Home”,<\/em><\/strong> presented by Vera Osoianu, Deputy Director of the BNRM;<\/p>\n

          – The “September – no day without reading<\/em><\/strong>” campaign and the national contests within the PNLC 2026, detailed by Ecaterina Dmitric, Head of Section BNRM;<\/p>\n

          – Librarians’ skills development programs to promote reading, presented by Ludmila Corghenci, Head of Section BNRM.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
