GirlsGoIT Autumn Bootcamp 2024: 100 young women from Moldova explored the world of technology

The GirlsGoIT Autumn Bootcamp 2024 has successfully concluded, marking an important milestone in the training of the next generation of technology specialists. For four weekends, more than 100 young women from the Republic of Moldova, aged between 14 and 20, had the opportunity to learn, create and discover new perspectives in IT.
The Bootcamp took place in six locations: Criuleni, Ialoveni, Straseni, Drochia, Dubasari and Chisinau. During interactive workshops, participants explored topics such as:
- HTML&CSS – creating web pages;
- Arduino – programming smart devices;
- Python – programming language used in various applications;
- Information security – data protection and online safety.
Out of more than 300 applications received, 100 young women were selected to participate in the program free of charge.
GirlsGoIT Autumn Bootcamp 2024 has registered:
- 56 final projects developed by participants;
- 80% of the young women developed their technical skills;
- 92% gained confidence in their skills;
- 80% want to pursue a career in IT.
Victoria Harcencov from Straseni said: “The bootcamp experience was unforgettable. I learned essential concepts about information security, applicable in everyday life and online. The mentors were exceptional and the atmosphere was warm and friendly.”
Ioana Bolea from Drochia added: “Autumn Bootcamp GirlsGoIT was one of the best experiences of my life! I learned coding, logical thinking and teamwork. The community created with the other girls is a precious gift that will last a lifetime.”
GirlsGoIT, launched by TEKEDU in 2015, aims to empower young women in Moldova to explore careers in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) fields. The project offers practical workshops, mentoring and access to a community of experts, helping to overcome gender stereotypes in technology.
The event was made possible with the support of the National Youth Agency of the Republic of Moldova and the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, provided by the Embassy of Canada in Moldova.
