Grant program for the transformation of community spaces in Moldova – AO Laolaltă launches the project “At a LOC”

Organizations that want to make community spaces in Moldova more accessible and functional now have an important opportunity. AO Laolaltă has launched the “At a LOC” project, a grant program offering up to $10,000 to renovate and modernize these spaces. In addition to financial support, selected organizations will also receive mentoring, project management training and community engagement strategies.

How will projects be selected?

The “At a LOC” project aims to create inclusive community hubs where young people and residents can get actively involved in various activities. Grants are open to NGOs and public entities in Moldova, which must demonstrate:

  • The need for rehabilitation of a community space and its impact on the local community.
  • Experience in working with communities and implementing local projects.
  • Capacity to provide co-financing of 20% of the project value (in cash or in-kind contributions).

Project timetable

  • March 2025 – Online training: “Skills and strategies for implementing community projects”
  • March – May 28, 2025 – Community consultation to identify local needs
  • April 2025 – Training at Community Center 151, Chisinau: “Project writing and budgeting”
  • April – May 2025 – Official launch of the grant application process
  • May 2025 – Announcement of winning organizations
  • June – September 2025 – Project implementation and renovation of community spaces
  • September 2025 – Opening of upgraded spaces and community events

How to apply?

Interested organizations must complete the application form available at [link] by March 16, 2025. It should include information about the space to be redeveloped, planned activities and community engagement strategy.

Who are the organizers?

AO Laolaltă is an organization active in the development of community projects and has already created several safe and inclusive centres, such as the Community Centre 151 in Chisinau and regional centres in Cahul, Causeni, Comrat, Dondușeni, Ungheni, and soon in Balti. Through feminist and inclusive approaches, Laolaltă supports initiatives that bring real and sustainable change in communities.
