From February 27 to March 1, 2026, the Technical University of Moldova will host a landmark event for young people interested in environmental protection and technology: the Hackathon for Green Solutions. This initiative brings together students and young professionals between the ages of 18 and 35, providing them with the necessary framework to develop concrete projects that support Moldova’s green transition.

Running of the event

The Hackathon is structured as a three-day intensive working exercise. Activities will start on Friday, February 27, at 14:00 and will end on Sunday, March 1, at 17:00. During this time, approximately 40 participants will be organized in interdisciplinary teams to identify environmental problems and propose applicable solutions.

The process is practical and well structured. Participants will go through several steps:

  1. Forming teams and defining ideas: young people will work together to set the direction of their project.
  2. Mentoring sessions: Experts from various fields will guide the teams, providing technical and strategic advice to refine the proposed solutions.
  3. Prototype development: Teams will work on the technical, digital or planning aspects of their projects.
  4. Final presentation: On the final day, the solutions will be showcased in front of a multidisciplinary jury to assess their viability and impact.

Thematic areas and objectives

Participants are encouraged to focus on four main areas of development. The first concerns the circular economy, where they are looking for ways to reduce waste and reuse resources. The second is sustainable urban planning, focusing on green building materials and more environmentally friendly cities. The third theme looks at sustainable agriculture and the fourth focuses on digital solutions that can facilitate the transition to a green economy.

Atmosphere and working environment

The atmosphere at the Technical University of Moldova will be dynamic and collaborative. Although the event has a competitive character, the focus is on sharing experiences and continuous learning. The workspace in Block 9 (39 Dacia Blvd . ) will be arranged to encourage communication and creativity. Young people will have the opportunity to meet people with similar interests, forming a community united by the desire to bring positive change in society.

At the end of the three days, their efforts will be officially recognized and the teams presenting the most innovative and practical solutions will be awarded prizes. This event is not only a competition, but also a launch pad for young people who want to become leaders in sustainability.
