Between October 16 and 19, Chisinau’s Cineplex Cineplex “Loteanu” is hosting the 11th edition of the Romanian Film Days (ZFR). The FOCUS section will present three films by director Radu Jude, accompanied by video interviews and discussions with actor Gabriel Spahiu. Admission is free, with prior reservation of tickets at the cinema box office in the days before the screening.

The festival will be opened with the premiere in Moldova of the film ,,Kontinental 25″ (2025), for which Radu Jude won the ,,Silver Bear” for best screenplay at this year’s prestigious Berlin Film Festival. The movie follows the story of Orsolya, a bailiff, who faces the moral consequences of evicting a homeless man.

The Focus will also include a special screening of Radu Jude’s one-hour film made with minimal means in the early part of his career,Film for Friends (2011). The movie shows a man recording a video message for his loved ones, offering a glimpse of his early and experimental approach to cinema.

The festival will close with “Dracula” (2025), recently presented in competition at the Locarno Film Festival. The production combines elements of vampire myth, science fiction, collages inspired by classic films and sequences generated by artificial intelligence, realized with the same team of actors and mobile phones.

The three screenings will be accompanied by a pre-recorded video interview with Radu Jude, who will be unable to be in Chisinau due to filming a new feature film in France.

In addition to Chisinau, ZFR will continue the tradition of traveling screenings, reaching Hâncesti, Nisporeni, Calarasi, Straseni, Ungheni, Floresti, Balti, Cimislia and Cahul, offering the public in several cities access to contemporary Romanian cinema.
