Chess is not just a game, but a complex exercise in strategic thinking that develops patience, concentration, and decision-making ability. Considered one of the oldest and most prestigious sports of the mind, chess challenges players to anticipate the opponent’s moves, build solid tactics, and find creative solutions to obstacles.

In recent years, young people’s interest in chess has increased significantly, both due to the accessibility of online competitions and the recognition of the benefits of this game on cognitive development. Many specialists believe that practicing chess improves logical thinking and analytical skills, being a valuable tool for education and the formation of mental discipline.

In this context, the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center organized the Chess Championship, an event dedicated to young people eager to test their skills and compete in a competitive but friendly environment. The competition was divided into two age categories, respectively 14 – 17 years old and 18 – 25 years old, offering the chance to a larger number of participants to assert themselves.

Throughout the intense rounds, the players demonstrated not only solid technical knowledge, but also an impressive ability to concentrate and adapt to the opponents’ strategies. Each move was carefully analyzed, and the decisions made in a few seconds made the difference between victory and defeat.

To reward the performances of the young chess players, the organizers offered cash prizes to those who ranked on the podium:

  • First place – 700 lei
  • Second place – 500 lei
  • Third place – 300 lei

Regardless of the final position in the ranking, each participant had the opportunity to learn from the tournament experience and perfect their playing style. Many of the young people present stressed the importance of such an event, which offers them not only a competition, but also a platform to meet other chess enthusiasts and improve their skills.

More than a game, chess is a lesson in strategic thinking, planning, and adaptability. Each game is a unique challenge, where patience and discipline are as important as talent and experience.

By organizing such competitions, the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center demonstrates that the sport of the mind remains a priority in the non-formal education of young people.
