Exchange of experience and mentoring at the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center: an important step to strengthen the national network of youth centers

Study with US Week in Chisinau | Series of events dedicated to studying in the USA

From Tuesday, November 18 through Saturday, November 22, at America House Chișinău, str. Mitropolit Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni 27, the public is invited to participate in a series of educational activities dedicated to study opportunities in the United States of America. The events will include presentations, discussions, workshops and interactive sessions by alumni, professors, American volunteers and representatives of renowned educational programs.

The week includes themed sessions on standardized testing, the American student experience, the application process to US universities, the use of artificial intelligence in education, and a university fair with participants from different US programs.

The week’s events

Among the highlights organized during Study with US Week are:

Updated TOEFL iBT Test Overview – November 18, 20, 25, 27 & December 2, 4, 3:30. A detailed overview of the new TOEFL iBT version, available January 21, 2026. Participants will learn how adaptive testing works and how academic content has been modernized.

The American High School Experience – November 19, 4:00 p.m.
Discussion with FLEX alumni who will cover topics such as:
– American education system
– the student-teacher relationship
– extra-curricular activities
– daily schedule and learning style

Studying at Harvard: Academics, Campus Life, and Beyond – November 19, 6:00 p.m., with Harvard University alumna Lucy Poulson, who will share her experiences about campus life, academic challenges, and opportunities at a top-ranked university.

Stand Out, Get In: Mastering the U.S. University Application Game – November 20, 18:00. Practical workshop on applying to U.S. universities. Among the topics discussed:

  • Building a competitive resume
  • additional documents needed
  • essential elements for a successful application

Using AI to Teach Vocabulary | Workshop for EFL Teachers – November 21, 16:00. A Workshop for English teachers, focusing on:

  • what AI can do in education
  • useful digital tools
  • effective methods for teaching vocabulary

EducationUSA Moldova University Fair – November 22, 12:00. A university fair with 12 American volunteers, including Fulbright and Peace Corps representatives, who will showcase educational institutions in the United States.

Classroom Chronicles: Education in the U.S. | English Conversation Club – November 22, 16:00. A relaxed discussion about what a typical day in an American high school is like and how it differs from the Moldovan system.

Radu Găvan in Chisinau – Literature and Dialogue

On Wednesday, November 19, a meeting with the Romanian writer Radu Găvanwill take place at the Cărturești in the Museum of History. The event is organized in collaboration with Nadejda Ivanov who will bring to the public the writers Val Butnaru, Constantin Ivanov and Iulian Ciocan. Throughout the day, visitors will have the opportunity to discover the author’s books, participate in discussions and take part in a book signing session.

About the author

Radu Găvan is a Romanian writer known for his straightforward style and strong themes. Born in 1978 in Bucharest, he debuted in 2014 with the novel Exorcizat, awarded by the Writers’ Union. Since then, he has published several novels, short prose and poetry, becoming an important voice in contemporary literature.

Start of the day

The program will start with an audience settling-in session. Radu Găvan’s books will be exhibited in a special space, where those interested can browse through them in silence. The atmosphere will be calm and open, suitable for discussions before the official start of the event.

The meeting will continue with an introductory presentation moderated by Nadejda Ivanov. She will talk about Radu Găvan’s literary activity and the main directions of his writing. Afterwards, the author will give a short presentation about his career, the themes dealt with in his books and how some of his volumes came to be published. This will give the audience a better understanding of his style and preoccupations.

The contemporary author

The discussion between the author and the guests will play an important role. Val Butnaru, Constantin Ivanov and Iulian Ciocan will talk with Radu Găvan on topics related to literature, writing and the life of an author in the present. The conversation will take place at an accessible pace so that all those present can easily follow the ideas and interventions. The audience will be able to ask questions if they wish.

Throughout the event, the atmosphere will remain friendly and relaxed. The organizers will ensure that participants feel comfortable and can interact freely with the authors.

End of the day

In the final part of the day, there will be a signing session. Those who wish can buy or bring volumes written by Radu Găvan, and he will offer autographs and a few words to each reader. It is an important moment for those who want a personal souvenir of the event.

The meeting in Chisinau is a very good opportunity to get to know Radu Găvan better and to get in direct contact with well-known writers. The event aims to bring literature closer to the public and to create a day dedicated to dialog and ideas in the cultural space of the Cărturești bookstore at the Museum.

A new exclusive book launch at the National Library of the Republic of Moldova

On November 21, starting with at 13:00 at the National Library 31 August 1989 str. 78 A, “Mihai Eminescu” Hall, central block, will be held the book launch of the PhD in communication sciences and writer Lilia Povestca, “Continuous professional training of specialized staff of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova: state of facts and perspectives”

An event moderated by Nelly Țurcan, PhD and university professor.

The monograph is based on the author’s doctoral dissertation, which was defended in the specialization of Infodocumentation, Library and Information Science, thus providing a broad analysis of the national system of continuing professional training of librarians.

At the same time, the work represents a scientific reference for the professional community in the Republic of Moldova, presenting an analytical and applied framework for the sustainable development of specialized library staff in the context of profound transformations of the information society.

The issue of continuous professional training of librarians is one of the most important directions of development of the infodocumentary field in the Republic of Moldova. Under the circumstances of rapid social, technological and informational changes, libraries are faced with an acute need for competent specialists, able to respond to the increasingly diverse demands of users, but also to the challenges brought with the era of digitization.

Mediacor Four! Anniversary & Open Doors – A day of discovery and celebration

On November 17, Mediacor opens its doors to celebrate four years in business. The “Mediacor Four! Anniversary & Open Doors” aims to highlight the people and projects that have contributed to the development of this creative hub, giving participants the opportunity to discover the world behind the studios and teams that bring it to life every day.

Doors open

The day starts at 15:00 with the Open Doors & Mediacor Tours session, where two hours will be dedicated to guided tours, live demonstrations and discussions with the center’s residents. Participants will have the opportunity to explore spaces that usually remain hidden from the public.

Highlights include a visit to the Dolby Atmos studio “Youbesc”, the only Dolby Atmos licensed studio in Moldova, where Roman Bordei and Sergiu Cumatrenco will lead small groups.

In parallel, the WELLMEIN studio hosts practical demonstrations of instrument and voice recording, coordinated by Călin Bogdan. Those interested in media production can get on the set of “Tastes are not up for discussion”, in a session offered by the TV Prod / Pro TV team, active between 15:00 and 16:00.

Behind the scenes at Mediacor

Also in this production area, visitors will be able to discover behind the scenes of the podcast “Thanks for the question” with Nata Albot, a space dedicated to the dialog and techniques of making a professional podcast.

For those passionate about entrepreneurship, education or creative projects, the organizations AIM, GoCon Moldova, IWPR and other partners are preparing thematic presentations about their activities and the role they play in the community.

Future Zone

Student Lab & Chill Zone – is dedicated to students. They will be able to see works by young creatives, and Identic Studio will offer an interactive photo zone for those eager to go home with a souvenir. The atmosphere of exploration will be complemented by storytelling with Vladlena Palii, artistic demonstrations with Elena Karafizi and a presentation about the Cahul vocational school by FineWine and Andrei Cibotaru.

4 years of evolution and shared stories

From 17:00, Mediacor turns into a party. This includes presentations, photos and messages, creating a warm and authentic retrospective of the hub’s evolution. Music will be provided by DJ CyberPoetry, and the atmosphere will be complemented by sparkling wines provided by partner Chateau Vartely.

The whole event takes place at Mediacor, within the premises of the State University of Moldova, and promises a complex and dynamic experience, open to all those curious to discover what an evolving creative community is all about.

Find your Employer: the event that opens doors for young people in Moldova

On 21 November, starting at 16:00, in Chisinau (the location will be announced to those registered), the event “Find Your Employer” will take place , organized by MentorMe in the framework of the Job Accelerator 5.0 program, with the support of the National Agency for Youth and the Ministry of Education and Research.

During the event, participants will discover:

  • Opportunities for 18-35 year olds to showcase their skills to top Moldovan employers
  • Discover real jobs
  • Apply for open positions.

For two hours, participants will be able to network, receive useful feedback and learn how to increase their employability.

The MentorMe organization together with the National Youth Agency ,offers real opportunities for young people as well as adults who are on the job hunt. “Find Your Employer” is not just a formal meeting between employers and candidates, but a professional launch opportunity as well as a real chance to move from theory to practice.

Plant Act – A day when young people planted the future

On 22 November, the village of Botnaresti in the Anenii Noi district will become the focal point of a new ecological action, as Interact Chisinau is organizing the “Plant Act ” initiative – an event dedicated to protecting the environment and expanding green areas. Dozens of young people are expected to take part, demonstrating once again that the civic involvement of the new generation can bring about real change.

The green initiative kicks off

Volunteers will gather in Chisinau’s Pan Halippa Square in the morning, where they will be ready to set off from 9.30am. At 10:00, the participants will set off for Botnărești, where a new green zone will take shape.

Once there, representatives of the Moldsilva Agency will provide the necessary training on the correct planting techniques and the importance of each sapling in the process of ecosystem restoration. Young people will receive gloves provided by @haimoldova and will start planting immediately after the training.

Throughout the day, volunteers will work in teams to plant the seedlings on the established area. The atmosphere will focus on collaboration, responsibility and active involvement. Breaks will be supported by water provided by @apabucovina.moldova and snacks prepared by @magnolia_md, to keep the energy of the participants.

A step towards a greener future

At the end of the activity, the organizers expect that the land will be transformed into a green area that will help protect the environment and improve air quality. The event aims to inspire young people to continue getting involved in green projects and to understand the collective impact of their actions.

AcceleONg – Development Program for Youth Organizations in Chisinau

The Chisinau City Hall, through the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center, is launching the AcceleONg program, an intensive training framework dedicated to the development of youth organizations in the capital. The program will take place on December 5-7, 2025, at the Buiucani Youth Center.

During the three days, participants will benefit from training sessions aimed at strengthening organizational capacities and developing the leadership skills of youth NGO teams. The program agenda includes:

  • Organizational capacity building;
  • leadership and internal management
  • strategic planning, budgeting and resource mobilization;
  • building and strengthening cross-sectoral partnerships;
  • use of modern tools for project management, communication and civic engagement.

The program is intended for NGOs and youth initiative groups from the Chisinau municipality that aim to increase the impact, visibility and effectiveness of their activities in the community.
