Ready to put your public speaking skills to the test? The National Academic Debating Association ANDA is kicking off a new edition of the Debate Day event on Sunday, February 8, starting at 11:00. Young people passionate about argumentation and critical thinking are expected at the Faculty of Law of the USM (67 Mihail Kogălniceanu str., Block 2, cabinet 204) for an intense day of intellectual confrontation and networking.

The National Library marks the National Reading Day and the commemoration of the poet Grigore Vieru by launching the National LecturaCentral 2026 Program

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., in the “Mihai Eminescu” Hall of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova (Chisinau, 31 August 1989, 78A, 31 August Street), a festive event dedicated to the promotion of reading will take place on the occasion of the National Reading Day and the Day of Commemoration of the poet Grigore Vieru.

The event also marks the official opening of the ninth edition of the National LecturaCentral 2026, a program that focuses on reading as an essential pillar for the personal, cultural and civic development of young people and the community.

Event agenda:

  1. Opening messages from cultural and political leaders 11:00 – 11:30

The program will start with keynote addresses by prominent personalities, including:

Elena Pintilei, Director General of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova and President of ABRM;

Angela Munteanu-Pojoga, MP and author of the parliamentary initiative on the establishment of the National Reading Day;

Cristian Jardan, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Moldova.

  1. Debates on reading in the age of artificial intelligence 11:30 – 12:30

The central moment of the day will be the debate session “Reading in the age of artificial intelligence: points of view”, with interventions by prominent personalities:

Emilian Galaicu-Păun – poet, prose writer and literary critic, who will address the impact of books in our personal formation;

Vitalie Eșanu – digital creator, will discuss the role of artificial intelligence in promoting culture and literature;

Orest Dabija – member of the Audiovisual Council, will present perspectives on the reader and new media.

  1. Successful experiences and initiatives in promoting reading 12:30 – 13:00

Good practice examples from the National ReadingCentral Program will be presented, such as:

– The project “Booktrailere Competition”, awarded with the First Prize in 2025, presented by Mariana Harjevschi, General Director of the Municipal Library “B.P. Hasdeu”;

– Community Library Initiatives, represented by Nadejda Pădure, Director of the Public Library “Mihail Sadoveanu” in Strășeni;

  1. Official launch of the 9th edition of the National Program “LecturaCentral” 13:00 – 13:30

In the last part of the event, plans and campaigns of the 2026 edition will be presented:

– National Campaign “The Writer at Home”, presented by Vera Osoianu, Deputy Director of the BNRM;

The “September – no day without reading” campaign and the national contests within the PNLC 2026, detailed by Ecaterina Dmitric, Head of Section BNRM;

– Librarians’ skills development programs to promote reading, presented by Ludmila Corghenci, Head of Section BNRM.

Show through your video that health is a right! Sign up for the “It’s my right to be healthy” competition

The Public Association “CASMED” has launched the video contest “It’s my right to be healthy” – an initiative that promotes health as a fundamental right worth protecting and valuing. The contest is conceived as a team educational activity, carried out together with classmates or classmates from another class, resulting in a collective product of the educational institution. Participation is encouraged, including in a student-teacher team format, and prizes will be awarded to the schools whose videos are selected as the winners.

Theaim of the competition is to involve teenagers aged 14-19 in promoting care and responsibility for their own health by understanding the importance of prevention, regular health check-ups and their impact on personal wellbeing and the school community.

As part of the competition, students (in collaboration with teachers) are invited to develop a 30 – 45 second video that conveys a clear, creative and educational message on one of the following topics:

  • What it means to take care of your health in everyday life;
  • why it’s important to go to the doctor even when nothing hurts;
  • the risks of postponing or avoiding health check-ups;
  • how students and teachers can work together to contribute to a healthier school;
  • what prevention means and how it helps us protect ourselves and others.

The contest is organized in the framework of the initiative “It’s my right to be healthy”, carried out by the Public Association “CASMED” in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Research, the WHO Office in the Republic of Moldova, with the support of the Government of Switzerland and the European Union.

First National Physics Competition for Girls

Chisinau City Hall announces the organization of the first edition of the National Physics Competition for Girls, an event that promotes academic excellence and girls’ interest in science. The initiative aims to inspire and support young female physics enthusiasts across the country.

The National Physics Competition for Girls is an educational event organized by UN Women Moldova, L.T. “Orizont” and the Technical University of Moldova. The competition offers female students the opportunity to explore physics in an innovative format and to be part of a community dedicated to academic performance and excellence.

How will it be organized?

The event will take place over three days:

  • Friday, March 6, 2026, 4:00 p.m. – Opening Celebration;
  • Saturday, March 7, 2026, 09:00 – the competitive examination.

Who can apply?

The competition is open to students of grades VI-XII from all educational institutions in the Republic of Moldova.

Participation is free of charge.

Upon request, the organizers provide support to cover transportation and accommodation costs for pupils and accompanying persons from outside the Chisinau municipality, between 6-8 March 2026.

Political education for young people: PNTP launches 2026 edition of the program

TheNational Youth Platform for Participation (PNTP ) is opening registration for the third edition of the Political Education Club. The initiative is aimed at young people who want to understand the fundamentals of the functioning of a state and the mechanisms that govern public life.

Objectives of the program

In a context marked by a dense flow of information, the program aims to provide theoretical clarity and tools for critical analysis. Participants will study the structure of state institutions, the differences between democratic systems and the foundations of political doctrines.

What participants will learn:

  • Foundations of the State: the role of institutions and the difference between representative and participatory democracy.
  • Political analysis: Identifying doctrines and using the political compass for ideological positioning.
  • Information resilience: Deciphering campaign techniques and recognizing attempts to manipulate or misinform.

Why is this course necessary?

Political education is about civic competence. An informed citizen is harder to manipulate and can contribute constructively to the development of society. The club provides a framework for dialog based on respect and argumentation, where questions are encouraged to replace superficial reactions with informed opinions.

Young Leaders Initiative: Training Opportunity through Sisterhood Camp

SISTERHOOD CAMP. This strategic initiative is envisioned as a dedicated space structured to cultivate skills essential to the personal and social development of the participants.

Program Objectives and Human Approach

  • The program of the camp, which will take place from March 5 to 8, addresses topics of critical importance through the prism of an empathetic and safe environment.
  • Emphasis falls on a pragmatic, evidence-based approach from the field of social psychology and moderate civic activism.

Main objectives include:

  • Self-Awareness and Compassion: Exploring methods of recognizing self-worth and cultivating an attitude of gentleness and self-respect;
  • Civic Development and Advocacy: Training participants in assertive expression of views and advocacy for causes that contribute to positive change in the community;
  • Violence Prevention: An objective analysis of the cycle of violence and identification of concrete steps for exiting risk situations;
  • Emotional Health: Providing practical tools for long-term emotional health management and care.

Participation Criteria

The initiative is addressed to young women aged between 15 and 22 who wish to participate in this learning and solidarity environment. The camp setting is designed to be inclusive, empowering and mutually supportive.

A new collaboration opportunity: Building the youth advocacy plan

TheNational Youth Center of Moldova (CNTM) is extending the call for the selection of two experts. The experts will facilitate a two-day strategic workshop. The aim is to develop and validate the Youth Platform Advocacy Plan for the period 2026-2028, with indicators for monitoring implementation.

The process will be a participatory one, based on lessons learned from previous advocacy activities and the strategic priorities of the youth sector.

The workshop will contribute to:

  • Defining key issues;
  • defining advocacy objectives;
  • defining concrete actions;
  • defining monitoring and evaluation mechanisms.

The workshop period is February 13-14, 2026.

Experts with experience in:

  • Facilitating participatory processes;
  • developing strategic and/or advocacy plans;
  • working with civil society organizations and youth structures.

Young people engaged for a sustainable future: 1 Planet, 1 Future youth exchange in Spain

Protecting the environment is no longer just a talking point, but a necessity that requires immediate action and the involvement of young people. In this context, the Erasmus+ project entitled “1 Planet, 1 Future” offers a unique opportunity for those who want to actively contribute to the fight against climate change.

The event will take place from March 09-17, 2026, in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.

Project objectives and themes

This exchange is designed to bring together participants from different European countries, facilitating an intercultural dialog on key topics. The project agenda focuses on the following main strands:

  • Climate change and sustainability: understanding the impact of human activities on the planet.
  • Environmental responsibility: Exploring how citizens can take action at both local and European level.
  • Skills development: Improving teamwork, communication and critical thinking.
  • Active citizenship: Encouraging young people to participate in environmental decision-making processes.

Event delivery and atmosphere

The project program excludes classical teaching methods such as long theoretical courses or monotonous lectures. Instead, the learning process is based on non-formal education.
